Government of PakistanMonsoon Rains: PM Shahbaz directs high alertness

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the federal and provincial departments to remain vigilant as the Met Office has predicted more widespread intermittent heavy rains across the Country from July 14.

As per the Met Office, the torrential rains may generate urban flooding and flash flooding in various areas of the Country while landslides are expected in northern areas during the forecast period.

In his directives issued on Tuesday, the prime minister said that security measures taken to ensure people’s safety across the Country including Sindh, Balochistan and South Punjab must be closely monitored.

The prime minister commended the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for providing full support to provincial governments and institutions.

Shahbaz Sharif also lauded the provincial governments and institutions for their services in protecting the lives and property of the people.

“Do your best to serve the people, your passion and services are commendable,” the prime minister remarked.
