ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Thursday said the incumbent government planned to establish a Media University to enhance capacity of the youth and provide them with education as per modern standards.

While addressing a media conference in Islamabad, Dr Firdous said the media as the fourth pillar of the state had a key role in the national development.

The special assistant said the media as watchdog could identify the weaknesses in the government and also guide it but it also had a responsibility to safeguard national interests.

In addition, she said the government believed in freedom of expression and was committed to strengthen the media in the Country.

Talking about the Kashmir issue, Dr Firdous reiterated that Pakistan would continue standing by their Kashmiri brethren until the UN resolutions on Kashmir issue were implemented.

Firdous Ashiq Awan said Prime Minister Imran Khan was engaging with the World Community and apprising them about India’s gross human rights violations in the Occupied Kashmir.
