ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that role of media is very important to highlight Pakistani tradition and cultural to the world.

Talking to media representatives in Islamabad on Tuesday while inaugurating media science exhibition of SZABIST University, the minister said that terrorism affected the Country’s national narrative and it is time to revive our cultural, tourism, heritage and sports activities.

The minister said that teachers, media and other stakeholders should play their role in this regard. She acknowledged that media played key role in the war of terrorism.

The information minister also urged provincial governments to join hands with the federal government for portraying positive image and national narrative of Pakistan to the world.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that promotion of literary and cultural heritage has become the need of the hour as it is the best way to eliminate intolerance and extremism from the society.

The state minister said that in the past little attention was paid to children friendly content on media which led to a dearth of knowledge in our children. She said that the incumbent government is laying special emphasis on inculcating our cultural and literary heritage in the youth.

Moreover, she said that this year marks the 70th birth anniversary of our Country for which the government is implementing a comprehensive plan based on promotion of our national narrative that had faded away due to extremism and terrorism.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the Country on the occasion of 70th Independence Day should resolve to strengthen national identity. She said that the government is working for preservation and promotion of national heritage of the Country.

The minister further said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is an opportunity to take the Country to new heights of progress and development. She said that it not only a route but will connect national heritage and Pakistani culture to the world. She said that CPEC will secure the future of our youth.

Chief of the Air Staff expressed his gratitude for the honour of receiving the Bahrain Medal - First Class. On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
