ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb on Friday appreciated the remarks made by the Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar about holding of upcoming general elections on time, and asked him to ensure free and fair polls.

On Thursday while addressing an event organised by the Supreme Court Bar Association honouring late Asma Jahangir in Islamabad, the Chief Justice ruled out martial law in the Country, and expressed resolve to make it sure that elections were held in Pakistan on time in a free, fair and transparent manner.

In a statement today, Marriyum Aurangzeb said the state of the Chief Justice regarding martial law and elections was very good. She said the Chief Justice should ensure free and fair elections in Pakistan.

The information minister said the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) also fulfill its responsibility for holding elections on time.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said equal opportunities should be provided to all political parties in upcoming general elections. The said the people wanted timely election in the Country.

Earlier talking to media, the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also lauded the Chief Justice’s resolve for ensuring timely elections while the National Party (NP) President Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo in a statement termed Mian Saqib Nisar’s remarks on elections very precious and important.
