ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain on Monday offered Poland to invest and initiate joint projects in various fields including power, agriculture and food processing in Pakistan.

While talking to a Polish delegation led by Marshal of Senate of Poland Stanislaw Karczewsla at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, the president expressed hope that the increase in contacts between the parliamentarians, business community and public of the two Countries would further enhance the bilateral relations and cooperation.

The president said Pakistani people were very hospitable and were good friends of Poland.

President Mamnoon said participation of Poland in the development process of other Countries including Pakistan was commendable.

Mamnoon Hussain said exchange of parliamentary delegations was very useful in that regard because they increased the opportunities of bilateral cooperation by understanding mutual issues and each other’s abilities.

Expressing gratitude on extending cooperation with regard to grant of GSP Plus status to Pakistan by the European Union, the president hoped that the cooperation between the two Countries would continue in the future.

The president noted that bilateral trade between the two Countries was below its true potential which could be further enhanced, adding there should have been regular exchange of delegations from the business community in that regard.

Mamnoon Hussain also suggested the exchange of delegations in the fields of education, culture and science & technology comprising experts in those fields.

On this occasion, Marshal of Senate of Poland said Poland also sought to enhance cooperation with Pakistan in different fields.

Stanislaw Karczewsla also thanked Pakistan for its support for Poland’s membership in the United Nations Security Council.

The Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani, Senator Gianchand, Polish ambassador to Pakistan Piotr A. Opalinski and other senior official were also present in the meeting.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
