SIALKOT, Pakistan: The Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Saturday said Malala Yousafzai was a daughter of Pakistan, and had become a symbol of peace and respect for humanity in the World.

While addressing the participants in the annual prize distribution ceremony of a private college in Sialkot, he said Malala had earned good name for herself and upheld the prestige of the Country around the globe by waging a struggle for promotion of education.

Khawaja Asif said the whole World saluted Malala Yousafzai for her courage, dedication, great struggle for girls’ education and determination.

The minister said the young generation should seek inspiration from Pakistan’s great daughter. He said the whole nation had warmly welcomed Malala upon her arrival in Pakistan after a span of five years as she was the pride for Pakistan globally. He urged students to get education for promotion of national interests.

The foreign minister said the government was striving to curb the menace of ignorance by spreading the light of knowledge and education as per vision of the government to promote quality education.

Asif stressed the need for promotion of knowledge-based education and personality building of students for making the Country developed and forward-looking.

Khawaja Asif said Pakistan could never be developed without the promotion of quality education. He said students were future of the Country and the government was providing them maximum facilities, enabling them to serve the nation and the Country in a better way in the future.

The minister also said there was a significant role of women in their Country’s development and they should be proud of them.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
