ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and Jordan on Friday agreed to strengthen cooperation between the two Countries in trade and other fields.
The understanding was reached when President Mamnoon Hussain held a meeting with the visiting King Abdullah II of Jordan at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad to discuss Pak-Jordan bilateral ties and other issues of mutual interest.
The Jordan’s Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Lieutenant General Mahmoud Freihat and other Jordanian officials also participated in the meeting while the Federal Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir, the Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua and other high level officials were also present in the meeting.
During the meeting, President Mamnoon emphasized that issues of Kashmir and Palestine should be resolved at the earliest for the sake of global peace and stability.
The president lauded Jordan for adopting a courageous stand on the issue of recognition of Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel by the United States.
The Jordanian King said concrete proposals for cooperation would come under discussion during meeting of Pakistan-Jordan Joint Ministerial Commission next month.
King Abdullah II said Pakistan’s strong position on issues concerning the Muslim World had been a source of strength for the Ummah.
Earlier upon his arrival at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Mamnoon Hussain welcomed the Jordanian delegation at the main door. The children wearing traditional dresses presented bouquets to King Abdullah II.
Following his meeting with President Mamnoon Hussain, the Jordanian King Abdullah II left for Jordan after completing his two days visit to Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir, and top civil and military officials saw off the honorable guest at Islamabad’s Noor Khan air base. On this occasion, JF-17 Thunder jets displayed a spectacular fly past.

The Jordanian King arrived in Islamabad on Thursday for a two-day official visit to Pakistan, and after his arrival, he met Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. During the talks, the two sides agreed to bring greater focus on enhancing Pak-Jordan bilateral trade and investment relations, to make the bilateral trade currently at $75 million commensurate with the excellent existing political ties.
