ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister for Commerce Eng. Khurram Dastgir Khan has said that government has provided relief to the people in the prices of petroleum products and now it was incumbent upon traders and manufacturers to pass on the relief to the masses by lowering the prices of the commodities.

In a statement issued here, the Minister said that government has announced a big reduction in the prices of the petroleum products in order to provide maximum relief to the people across the country.

The government, he said that due to reduction in the prices of the petroleum products, it prices were now come down to the lowest level of ten years in the country.

The Commerce Minister said that government has reduced petroleum prices by Rs.8.48 per liter and also slashed electricity tariff by Rs.4.11 per unit for the relief of the people.

“The government by reducing the energy tariff has fulfilled its responsibility and now its the obligation of the private sector to play their role in the providing relief to people”, he remarked.

He added that after reduction in the prices of petroleum and energy tariffs by the government, the private sector has no option but to lower the prices of the commodities for the relief of the people.

Khurram Dastgir said that according to the public opinion, the people of Pakistan were facing three big challenges of terrorism, loadshedding and inflation.

He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif , and the government polices there has been a big reduction in these problems and due to these efforts further relief would reach to the people across the country.
