ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Friday said Pakistan and Sri Lanka should work together to revive the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Forum as a vibrant platform for regional cooperation.

Taking to the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Major General (retd) L.K. Jayanath C. Perera who met him in Islamabad, the prime minister conveyed his warm regards for the Leadership of Sri Lanka, and said Pakistan and Sri Lanka maintained friendly cooperation in all areas which needed to be further strengthened.Khaqan for Pak-Sri Lanka joint efforts to revive SAARC as vibrant platform

The Sri Lankan High Commissioner congratulated the prime minister on assumption of office. He also thanked the government of Pakistan for facilitating Buddhists who travel to Pakistan for religious pilgrimage.

The High Commissioner also conveyed the request of the Sri Lankan government for providing the ‘Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha’ which would be showcased during ‘Vesak Festival’ in Sri Lanka.

Major General (retd) L.K. Jayanath C. Perera also expressed the gratitude of his government for the prompt provision of fertilizer by Pakistan.

The prime minister wished the High Commissioner a pleasant stay in Pakistan.
