ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin held a meeting with the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection & Poverty Alleviation Dr. Sania Nishtar at the Finance Division in Islamabad on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the finance minister informed Dr. Sania Nishtar that for transparency’s sake the prospective beneficiaries will be accessed through the Ehsaas NSER database only.

Dr. Sania Nishtar commended the Kamyab Pakistan Programme for providing relief to underprivileged segments of the society through better financial empowerment opportunities. She affirmed full support and facilitation on the occasion.

The finance minister said that the Kamyab Pakistan Program is based on the concept of “bottom-up” approach as envisaged by Prime Minister Imran Khan. He said that the beneficiaries would enjoy easy access to agricultural and business loans at zero-mark up without collateral.

Moreover, the Kamyab Pakistan Program will provide a low-cost housing scheme for lower-income groups enabling them to own their houses. Thus, the program will promote financial inclusion.

Shaukat Tarin said that the proposed program is one of the largest of its kind in the world. It will bring at least three million families out of the vicious cycle of poverty in the next three to five years with Rs 1,600 billion to be disbursed through different products of the Kamyab Pakistan Program, he added.

The finance minister also briefed about the basic parameters of the Kamyab Pakistan Program and underlined that NSER of Ehsaas program is the premise on which the whole program is based and shall ensure transparency in disbursement of funds and provision of microloans to the targeted households accurately.
