RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) in Rawalpindi has successfully hosted the launch of the “Hunarmand Pakistan (Skills for All)” under the “Kamyab Jawan Programme” on Thursday.
The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Usman Dar and the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan along with the Executive Director National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Dr. Nasir Khan and the Vice Chancellor Dr. Saima Hamid inaugurated the programme at the FJWU.
In his remarks, Usman Dar appreciated the steps taken by NAVTTC for improving the quality of TVET institutes in Pakistan. He informed that the government’s prime objective is to equip youth with modern technological and entrepreneurship skills.
Usman Dar highlighted the importance of startups in creating jobs and economic activity, and said that through the Kamyab Jawan Programme, the government will utilize public-private partnerships to create such opportunities to empower the youth.
Whilst addressing the audience, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that Kamyab Jawan Program will provide opportunities for the youth to move forward by opening their small and medium enterprises. She said that Rs 100 billion have been allocated in the first phase of the Kamyab Jawan Programme.
Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan assured that all the loans under this program will be given on merit. She quoted that, it is the firm belief of Prime Minister Imran Khan that Pakistan will achieve progress and prosperity by promoting merit. She guaranteed that this program will be a successful path of economic growth for Pakistani youth.
According to her, the disbursement of loans under the program is a fulfillment of the promise made by the Prime Minister, Imran Khan with the youth. The government had taken a number of initiatives for empowering the youth, which comprises more than 60 percent of the country’s population.
Mr. Nasir elaborated about the mission of NAVTTC is to change the skill profile of Pakistan.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Vice Chancellor Dr. Saima Hamid shared her views on Kamyab Jawan Programme and appreciated the government’s initiative to encourage women participation in economic and political setup. She also talked about the four diploma courses running under this step and more than 100 students are enrolled in them. She stressed that investment in higher education of Pakistani women is the need of the hour and crucial for the sustainable development of the Country.
Dr. Saima Hamid further stressed upon the enhancement of research grant to promote the research culture among female students. She endorsed the fact that the current government’s vision and efforts for youth development are commendable.
