Government of PakistanKakar underlines Pakistan’s continued support, commitment to ECO’s vision

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan: The Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar Ul Haq Kakar, who is leading the Pakistan delegation at the 16th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit being held in Tashkent, addressed the Summit on Thursday.

In his speech, the prime minister underlined Pakistan’s continued support and commitment to ECO’s vision for regional growth and development.

Anwaar Ul Haq Kakar underscored the importance of regional cooperation amongst the member states for promotion of trade, investment, connectivity, development of transport and communications infrastructure, and sustainable economic development.

The prime minister said that the corridors-based approach of ECO was critical for enhanced regional connectivity. Successful materialization of the Transit Transport Framework Agreement (TTFA) into projects such as Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul Rail and Road Corridor would unleash the economic potential of the entire region.

Kakar vehemently condemned the incessant and lethal bombardment of Gaza by the Israeli occupation forces. He called for resolution of the Palestinian question in accordance with the relevant UNSC and OIC Resolutions.

The interim premier also invited international attention on the growing intolerance, xenophobia and islamophobia and called for building political and legal deterrence against the abhorrent rise of Islamophobia while fostering mutual respect, interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence.
