Government of PakistanJustice (retd) Amir Raza heads Inquiry Committee to probe Dawn Story

ISLAMABADAD, Pakistan: The Federal government on Monday formed an Inquiry Committee under Justice (retd) Amir Raza to investigate publication of a controversial news story about a national security meeting.

Sources said that one member each of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) will be included in the Committee.

Likewise, the Secretary Establishment Tahir Shahbaz and the Chief Ombudsman Punjab Najam Saeed will also be part of the Investigative Committee.

On Saturday, the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told media representatives in Islamabad that the Inquiry Committee would comprise senior honest officers who had excellent professional career, adding that the Committee would be allowed to work in a free and transparent manner.

However, the Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan while talking to media outside the Supreme Court prior to the beginning of Panama Case hearing said that they would not accept newsgate investigation of a Committee headed by a retired judge.

Imran Khan said that this committee would also give the result like Lahore’s Model Town Case.

Earlier on November 29, Senator Pervez Rasheed was sacked from his Office of Information Minister over his negligence which led the false Story by Cyril Almeida be published in Dawn newspaper on October 6.
