JUI-F reiterates its full support to PML-N amid Panama Crisis

Government of PakistanJUI-F reiterates its full support to PML-N amid Panama Crisis

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) has reiterated its support to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the ruling party finding it difficult to pull itself out from Panama Papers Case.

The support was reiterated by the JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman when he met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and political matters.

The meeting occurred when the ruling PML-N has badly been trapped in Panama Case, and is desperately looking for political as well as legal support.

Sources said that during the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rehman reassured the prime minister of his party’s full support in political matters.

Sources said that the two leaders also discussed the strategy to deal with the opposition’s protest in the aftermath of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) findings in Panama Case.

Since the JIT in its final report submitted to the Supreme Court on July 10 revealed huge gap in Sharif family’s income and assets, the Opposition Parties have been demanding the prime minister’s resignation.

However, the JUI-F, Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) and Awami National Party (ANP) have distanced themselves from such demand, and especially the JUI-F has openly voiced its support to the PML-N government.

Even the JUI-F has also termed the JIT controversial and cast a wary eye at its findings, the same narrative the PML-N has tried to build up since the investigation team was formed by the Supreme Court to probe the Sharif family.
