ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday emphasized judicious and transparent utilization of foreign funding for development projects.

Chairing a meeting of the senior official of Economic Affairs Division in Islamabad to review progress on foreign funded projects, he said speedy implementation of these projects would facilitate achievement of government’s objective of inclusive high growth besides bringing about progress and economic wellbeing for the people of the country.

The finance minister also stressed expeditious resolution of issues that hindered realizing any project.

Ishaq Dar also reviewed preparations for Pakistan delegation’s participation in the Golden Jubilee 50th annual meetings of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) scheduled to be held at Yokohama, Japan from May 4-7, 2017.

It may be added that the ADB board of governors holds an annual meeting to discuss developments in Asia and the Pacific as well as institutional matters.

Earlier, the Secretary Economic Affairs Division gave the meeting an update on different ongoing and planned projects with financing from the ADB, Department for International Development (DFID), World Bank, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and other multilateral and bilateral development partners.

The Secretary Economic Affairs Division also gave a briefing on the Pak-German government to government negotiations on economic cooperation being held in the EAD.

Among others senior officials of the Economic Affairs Division and finance division attended the meeting.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
