ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President and CEO of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) David Miliband met Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Thursday.
Lauding the valuable and long-standing partnership of IRC with Pakistan, the prime minister noted with appreciation IRC’s timely assistance in the aftermath of last year’s devastating floods.

The prime minister briefed the visiting dignitary about rehabilitation and reconstruction of the flood affected areas.
Shahbaz Sharif highlighted that Pakistan is looking forward to IRC’s continued support in further promoting capacity building for climate resilience and disaster management.
The prime minister also underscored the importance of IRC’s valuable support for reconstruction and repair of the damaged schools and hospitals in the flood affected areas.
The President of International Rescue Committee appreciated the government of Pakistan for the commitment and dedication by taking timely steps to minimize the effects of last year’s devastating floods.
David Miliband also re-affirmed IRC’s desire to further deepen collaboration with Pakistan in disaster and climate change management.
The Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistants Dr. Jehanzeb Khan and Syed Tariq Fatemi, the Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lt. General Inam Haider Malik and Senior Officials of the concerned Ministries also attended the meeting.
