ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday said Pakistan was the front- line state against terrorism, and urged the International Community to acknowledge Pakistan’s sacrifices in war against terrorism.

While addressing the concluding ceremony of three-day International Counter Terrorism Forum in Islamabad, the prime minister said Pakistan had been suffering from the menace of terrorism for decades.

The prime minister said weapons and drugs were unknown to Pakistan till Soviet invasion in Afghanistan.

“We lost politicians, intellectuals and other innocent civilians in war against terrorism,” he said, adding Peshawar’s army public school incident shook the entire nation.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said Pakistan had made unprecedented progress in the war against terrorism. He said for the first time 1800 scholars gave Fatwa against Jihad and suicide attacks.

Likewise, he added, for the first time Pakistan started fencing on Afghanistan border. He said Pakistan sought peace in Afghanistan more than any other Country in the World.

Earlier while addressing the International Counter Terrorism Forum, the Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said Pakistan continued to fight menace of terrorism, and remained steadfast in its commitment to fight terrorism. He said Pakistan took effective measures to eliminate terrorism, and implementation was being made on anti-terror National Action Plan (NPC).

Ahsan Iqbal said all political parties stayed united against terrorism. He said Pakistan had given immense sacrifices for International peace.
