ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The four-day International Calligraphy Exhibition, Seminar and Art Workshop will start in Islamabad from August 25 with the title ‘Alqalam’.

While speaking during a high-level meeting to finalize the arrangements for the International Calligraphy Exhibition, Seminar and Art Workshop, the Advisor to Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage (NH&LH) Irfan Siddiqui said that the upcoming event in connection with Independence Day celebrations will play an instrumental role towards promotion of great Islamic art of Calligraphy.

Irfan Siddiqui said that this exhibition, seminar and art workshop will open new avenues of cooperation in the fields of Islamic history, arts and culture with different countries and enable the calligraphers from within the country and abroad to learn from each others experiences.

The adviser to the prime minister said that this event will help devise future strategies for preservation and promotion of this prestigious art. He directed the relevant officials to ensure proper arrangements for the calligraphers who are coming to Pakistan from different countries.

Irfan Siddiqui was briefed in detail about the arrangements for the event by the officials.

The exhibition is being arranged by NH&LH Division in collaboration with Research Centre for Islamic History, Arts and Culture (IRCICA), Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Prominent calligraphers from 10 different Islamic countries will participate in this exhibition while the art pieces of the calligraphers from 40 countries will be displayed in the exhibition.

The Federal Secretary NH&LH Division Aamir Hasan, the Joint Secretary Syed Junaid Akhlaq, Captain (retd) Abdul Majeed Niazi, the Managing Director National Book Foundation (NBF) Dr. Inam-ul-Haq Javed and other officials of the ministry attended the meeting.
