ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Interior Ministry on Friday clarified that nothing unpleasant happened and Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan did not walk out of the Federal Cabinet meeting.
“We should avoid speculations and unrealistic comments with regard to remarks of interior minister during Cabinet meeting held in Islamabad on Thursday,” a Spokesman of the Interior Ministry said in a statement issued in Islamabad on Friday.
The Interior Ministry Spokesman said that there was no validity or truth in news telecast on some media channels in this regard.
The Spokesman said that the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan could not attend the parliamentary party meeting of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) due to personal engagements as even before he also could not attend several parliamentary party meetings.
The Spokesman said that this aspect should not be wrongly interpreted.
Moreover, he said that the interior minister will inform about his position through media about the current situation in the next few days.
There have been rumours and speculations in media that the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has distanced himself from the federal government after the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) declared Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif guilty in Panama Case, and is not attending party’s meetings.
The interior minister, according to some media reports, also advised the prime minister to step down and avoid the path of confrontation.
