MUZAFFARABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that Indian ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary are regrettable as the Indian forces have carried out more than 900 ceasefire violations in 2018, resulting in the martyrdom of 21 innocent civilians while injuring 90 others.

While addressing a ceremony after inaugurating the first unit of Neelum-Jhelum Hydroelectric Project in Muzaffarabad on Friday, the prime minister said that the ongoing worst human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir by the Indian forces is a human rights challenge for the World conscience.

The prime minister urged the International Community to play its role for end to these human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir. He also reiterated Pakistan’s moral, political, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris in Occupied Kashmir.

Talking about the 969-megawatt Neelum-Jhelum Hydroelectric Project, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the project will be completed within two months, and it will generate 5.15 billion units of electricity annually besides an annual revenue of about Rs 55 billion. He said that as many as 4,500 people will get employment in the project.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the government had to face different technical and financial challenges to execute the project; however, they were successfully overcome, and the project today became a reality.

The prime minister said that power plants having capacity of 10,400 megawatts of electricity have been operationalized by the present government. He said that the gap between demand and supply in the Country has been overcome. He said that load shedding is being observed only in those areas where power-theft is recorded.
