The Indian government today revoked Article 370 of the Constitution, setting aside the Special Status having earlier been granted to Occupied Jammu and Kashmir under which the region had the privilege of having a separate Constitution, flag, and special civil rights.
With the removal of its Special Status, the mountainous valley of Jammu and Kashmir has now been divided into two parts – namely Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh – and declared as Indian Union Territories.
