ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has felicitated Justin Trudeau for winning the second term as the Prime Minister of Canada.

In a statement on Wednesday, the prime minister said that he looks forward to working together in order to further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Canada.

“Congratulations Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on election victory. Looking forward to working together to further strengthen our bilateral relationship,” Imran Khan wrote on Twitter.

In Canada’s federal election 2021 held on September 20 to elect the Country’s 44th Parliament, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau‘s Liberal Party won the second term but lost the majority.

The Liberal Party secured 157 seats, falling short of 13 seats which would have raised the number to 170 required for a majority in the 338-seat House of Commons.

The runner-up Conservatives led by Erin O’Toole sealed 119 seats, Yves-Francois Blanchet’s Bloc Quebecois won 34 seats while Jagmeet Singh-led New Democratic Party (NDP) bagged 25 seats.
