Government of PakistanGovt won’t hinder Azadi March: Dr Firdous

LAHORE, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the government will not hinder a peaceful protest but the timing warrants greater unity instead of anarchy.

While addressing a news conference in Lahore on Saturday, Dr Firdous said that the planned Azadi March by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) on October 27 should be for Kashmir and not to dislodge the government.

Dr Firdous said that the JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman will fail in his designs of stoking instability and chaos in the Country. She said that the people will not turn up for the Azadi March and the students of seminaries will also disappoint Fazlur Rehman.

The special assistant said that the people are fully cognizant of the tactics and religious card used by Fazlur Rehman to reach the treasury benches. She said that the call of Maulana Fazl r Rehman for the march is contrary to the sentiments of the people. She said that Fazlur Rehman has always practiced the politics based on vested interests.

Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the two opposition parties whose leadership is facing corruption cases is using the shoulder of Maulana Fazlur Rehman to achieve their objectives.

In addition, he said that the present government will complete its mandated period of five years with the backing and support of the masses.
