ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Energy Omar Ayub Khan has said that the government is focusing on alternate resources to produce cheaper power so as to meet the growing needs of the Country.
Talking to the Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Barrister Muhammad Khalid Khursheed Khan who met him in his Office in Islamabad on Wednesday, the minister assured him that the federal government will continue to cooperate with the Gilgit-Baltistan government for timely implementation of the projects.

The energy minister said that our government intends to harness local resources particularly water, minerals, and tourism sectors to enable the area to generate to its own revenue which will contribute to the economic development of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The chief minister apprised the energy minister about the development of ongoing energy projects in Gilgit-Baltistan to maintain the fuel & electricity requirement of the area.
The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Petroleum Nadeem Babar also attended the meeting.
