ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has voiced concerns over the presence of modern firearms in Azadi March led by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Dr Firdous said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government gave the right to opposition parties to hold a protest in adherence to democratic traditions.

Dr Firdous said that what does it imply when those declaring themselves proponents of democratic values have kalashnikov-yielding persons among them in Azadi March. She said that the responsibility lies on Maulana Fazlur Rehman to not to let any untoward situation occur in the presence of weapon and stick-wielding men.

The Special Assistant also strongly denounced the attack on Levies Force in Barkhan area of Balochistan by a banned outfit.
