ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that generosity has nothing to do with one’s bank balance as demonstrated by Pakistanis by hosting millions of Afghan refugees despite having financial constraints.

In his address at the two-day Refugee Summit Islamabad on “40 years of Afghan Refugees Presence in Pakistan: A New Partnership for Solidarity” in Islamabad on Monday, the prime minister said that despite economic challenges, the host Pakistan kept wonderful relations with Afghan refugees.

The prime minister said that hosting of refugees is linked with Madina Hijrat, and noted that our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) believed in uniting human beings.

Imran Khan further said that we have extended the best ever support to the Afghan peace process. He said that we need peace in Afghanistan for development and prosperity of internally displaced people.

The prime minister said that development is only possible through trade and friendly relations, which will also help us to improve our relations with Central Asian states.

Referring to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inhuman policies, Imran Khan warned the world to take notice of India’s ultranationalist ideology based on Nazism, otherwise things will go far worse. He said that if this ideology is not checked, this will lead to destruction and the region will become a flashpoint.

The prime minister said that Narendra Modi’s statement that they can destroy Pakistan in 11 days is not a responsible statement by a prime minister of a nuclear state with a huge population.

Imran Khan said that because of the Hindutva ideology Kashmiris have been persecuted for over 200 days while living under a lockdown. He said that under the same ideology, the BJP government passed two discriminatory nationalistic legislations, targeting 200 million Muslims in India.

Furthermore, he said that if the International Community does not take notice of this situation, it will create another refugee crisis for Pakistan as Muslims of India have been asked to move to Pakistan.

Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
