Government of PakistanGas supply to K-Electric as per requirement restored: Khaqan

KARACHI, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday said issues between K-Electric (KE) and the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) had been sorted out, and supply of gas to KE as per its requirement had been restored.

Talking to the media after chairing the meeting of Energy Committee of the Cabinet in Karachi, the prime minister said they had directed the SSGCL to provide gas supply to K-Electric. He assured the electricity and water shortage issues faced by people of Karachi would be resolved.

The prime minister said power was being produced more than the demand but the areas – where power pilferage was high – would have to face the outages.

Khaqan Abbasi said there was no conflict between the federal and the Sindh governments over power crisis. He said efforts were being made to overcome electricity shortage. He said residents of Karachi would get water and electricity both.

“We have no intention to take K-Electric under the government control,” he said.

To a question, he said the federal government had earmarked Rs 30 billion for development of Karachi.

The prime minister said the federation had completed its work on green lines in Karachi. He said they were ready to provide busses to the Sindh government for green line project.
