ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb Friday said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led federal government believed in freedom of expression and would continue to facilitate growth of independent media in the country.
The minister expressed these views during her visit to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) in Islamabad where she was briefed about its functioning and working by PEMRA Chairman Absar Alam.
The state minister asked PEMRA to ensure that the contents of programmes are in line with cultural values and national interest of the State.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that a complete institutionalized training programme for the employees is also the need of the hour, particularly with a view to enhance their professional skills and equip them with modern trends of development in monitoring system.
