ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, Engr Muhammad Baligh ur Rahman Wednesday said that government was taking concrete steps to equip youth with technical skills and professional training through Prime Minister’s Education Reforms Programme.

Talking to the state-run news agency in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said that no country could progress without imparting education and technical skills to the youth.

The government, he said, was determined to equip youth with technical skills and professional training to emerge them in the different industries at national and international level.

Highlighting the achievements in education sector by present government, he said that a vivid development could be seen in education sector as the federal and provincial governments had allocated more funds in the present tenure as compared to the past for the sector.

The minister of state said that 6 million children from class 1 to 5 were still out of schools and the government was making efforts to bring them to school.

He said that by the efforts of education ministry and other cooperating institutions, the enrolment in schools had been increased as 5% students of the primary education had been moved from private to public sector schools.

The minister of state said that through Prime Minister’s Fee Reimbursement Scheme, the enrolment of students in universities had been increased upto 30% which was a positive sign in the education sector.

Prime Minister had transferred the Curriculum Wing to the Education Ministry, he said, adding that “We will modernize the curriculum of the educational institutions to meet the challenges of the world.

A plan for the characterization of the students was also underway aiming at creating a corruption free society, he added.
