ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman on Monday said it was the desire of the federal government that a consensus should have been developed with provinces on the issue of Higher Education Commission (HEC).

In the 27th meeting of the Inter-Provincial Coordination Committee (IPCC) in the Committee Room of the Cabinet Division in Islamabad on Monday, the minister said a Submit Committee had been formed on the matters related to HEC and other similar bodies in post-18th Constitutional amendment scenario.

The minister said the first meeting of the Sub-Committee would be convened on October 11.

The meeting was presided over by the Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, and attended by representatives from the federation and all four provinces.

The meeting also discussed the issue of payment of Net Hydel Profit (NHP) to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.

In the meeting, the federal government agreed that it would will share the available production data of oil & gas, and electricity generation with the provinces on weekly basis.

The financial claims of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab against Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) regarding the cross adjustment of sales tax also came under discussion in the meeting.

The member FBR ensured that the issue would be resolved as soon as possible.
