ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Cabinet, which met in Islamabad on Tuesday under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan, accorded approval to the National Digital Cable Policy.
Briefing the media persons about the Cabinet decisions, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said that the digitalization of Cable will improve the quality and ensure the people have access to more television channels.
The information minister said that we will also give rights to the Cable Operators to purchase content.
Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said that there is also a proposal to reopen the cinemas from June 30, 2021.
However, he added that the final decision to this effect will be taken by the National Command and Operator Center (NCOC).

In its meeting, the Federal Cabinet also decided to monitor the implementation of development projects under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).
The minister said that a mechanism will be evolved in order to ensure the timely availability of funds for the development projects. He said that a third-party evaluation of the development projects will be carried out in order to ensure transparency.
The information minister said that the annual PSDP for the next Fiscal Year 2021-22 is of Rs 900 billion, and most of the mega projects for Sindh will be financed from it.
Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said that the Cabinet also approved the implementation of Storm water drains projects under the Karachi transformation program.
Besides, the Cabinet approved the appointment of community welfare attaches in seven Countries.
The minister told that on the complaints of Overseas Pakistanis, two Officers of the Pakistani Embassy in Saudi Arabia have been called back.
Furthermore, the minister told that the Federal Cabinet also discussed the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the elections.
Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has been given a presentation on the EVMs. He said that the Electronic Voting Machines have been developed as per the aspiration of the Election Commission.
The information minister said that it is our desire that the next elections are conducted by using these Electronic Voting Machines.
