ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday said the Opposition Parties should come out with concrete proposals to amend the accountability laws to ensure transparency in the process.

Talking to media outside the Parliament House in Islamabad, Fawad Chaudhry said a Committee on accountability could be constituted like a Committee was formed to probe the alleged election rigging. He said they were ready for debate in the National Assembly on accountability.

Fawad Chaudhry said instead of making hue and cry, the Opposition Parties should engage themselves in healthy debate in the National Assembly on accountability.

Democracy not in danger because of accountability: Fawad Chaudhry

The minister maintained that democracy was not in danger because of accountability, adding the accountability process would be further expedited as the time passed. He said it was inevitable to hold those accountable, who had caused huge losses to the national exchequer.

The information minister further said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was an autonomous institution and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had nothing to do with the ongoing accountability process.

Fawad Chaudhry said the government did not believe in any political victimization but would bring to justice all those who had looted the Country. He said any amount of hue and cry would not hinder the ongoing accountability process in the Country.

Fawad Chaudhry also categorically declared that an across the board accountability process would continue without any discrimination.

In reply to a question, Fawad Chaudhry said the government did not oppose the participation of the Opposition Leader Shahbaz Sharif in the National Assembly Session, and he was brought to Islamabad from Lahore on production orders issued by the Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser.
