ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Syed Fakhar Imam has said that Pakistan needs to upscale its technology to provide better products to small, medium, and large farmers for the betterment of the agricultural outcome of the Country.
In his remarks at the 12th meeting of Subcommittee of the Special Committee on Agricultural Products held at the Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS) in Islamabad on Tuesday, the minister said that Pakistani farmers need to be achievers themselves rather than dependents on international help and it can only be done if agricultural products are produced for within Pakistan.
Talking about research, the minister stressed upon applied research rather than theoretical research to build up momentum for advancement.
The minister also delineated upon the importance of meteorology and its improvement to further strengthen the agricultural sector as meteorology is a key stakeholder in the agricultural prosperity of Pakistan.
Fakhar Imam said that with wheat being close to harvest (harvesting started in dish already), the meteorology department is a significant stakeholder for agriculture in Pakistan.
