ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rahman on Tuesday said that efforts in progress to complete all the projects of Information Technology during the current fiscal year.
She told Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunications held here at Parliament House. The meeting of the committee was chaired by Chairman of the committee Senator Shahi Syed.
Members of the committee including Rehman Malik, Taj Muhammad Afridi, Mufti Abdul Sattar, Najma Hameed, Dr. Ghous Muhammad Khan Niazi and Muhammad Azam Khan Swati was the special invitee.
Senior official of Ministry of Information Technology briefed the committee about projects under consideration to be launched during the current year.
The Minister of State informed the committee that Telecenters would be established across Pakistan for the provision and expansion of the ICT facilities in the rural areas of the country, adding that the programme being redesigned. She said that 500 centers would be established.
Senior officials informed the committee that survey of 63 site has been conducted while 30 candidates sites have been identified for the construction of customs built buildings.
The members of the committee said that an inquiry should be conducted into the irregularities committed in the 13 different Public Sector Development Projects (PSDP) funded projects of National Information Technology Board (NITB).
The committee also discussed the issue of week signals of mobile networks in various parts of the country. The committee recommended that the issue should be resolved.
