ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Muhammad Yusuf Shaikh has emphasized upon the importance of book reading, and said that a teacher can play important role for inculcating the habit of book reading in students.
While addressing at a ceremony as the chief guest in National Book Foundation (NBF) where he visited on Friday, the minister also appreciated NBF role in the promotion and development of books.
Earlier on his arrival at NBF, the Managing Director National Book Foundation Dr. Inam ul Haq Javeid welcomed the minister.
The minister also visited NBF Readers Club, NBF Book Shop, National Book Museum and section of kids’ book Kids Republic.
Yusuf Shaikh also visited the National Training Institute for Literacy and Non Formal Education (NFE) established by National Commission for Human Development (NCHD).
The federal minister chaired briefing on functions and objectives of NTI. Chairperson NCHD Razina Alam Khan was also present on the occasion.
The minister was apprised that the National Training Institute has devised the National Plan of Action on Literacy and NFE in collaboration with all the stakeholders to achieve educational targets.
Meanwhile, the Rector National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Lt General (retd) Naweed Zaman, HI (M) called on the minister for federal education and professional training.
The federal minister welcomed the Rector NUST in his office and matters related to education were discussed during the meeting.
