ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr Arif Alvi has asked the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) to emphasize the message of women’s share in inheritance as per the Islamic injunctions.

In a letter to the Council, the president noted that the CII is a Constitutional body, and it is playing a pivotal role in the social development.

The president said that the Council of Islamic Ideology should highlight the social issues in compliance with true Islamic values.

Dr Arif Alvi urged that child spacing and conversation of water should also be transmitted by the CII from the mosques and by the religious scholars.

Meanwhile while addressing the Young Women Leadership Conference in Islamabad, Dr Arif Alvi underlined the government’s commitment to give women protection and their due place in society. He said that equal opportunities for women need to be created in all walks of life.

The president said that the women should be encouraged in small and medium enterprises as women’s economic independence is imperative for their empowerment and emancipation.

Arif Alvi said that the vision of Naya Pakistan cannot be achieved without the contributions of women in diverse fields.
