Government of PakistanDisgruntled allies Achakzai, Fazl meet PM Nawaz

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The leaders of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) and Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) separately met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday, a day after both the federal government allies refused to give consent to 28th Constitutional Amendment Bill in the National Assembly for revival of the Military Courts.

On Tuesday, the Lower House of the Parliament passed the 28th Constitutional Amendment Bill with two-third majority for revival of the Military Courts for another two years. However, JUI-F’s lawmakers abstained from voting while PkMAP’s lawmakers opposed the bill.

In the meeting held at the PM House, the PkMAP Chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai discussed with the prime minister matters of national significance and current political situation of the Country besides ongoing development and welfare schemes in Balochistan.

In his remarks during the meeting, the prime minister said that development and progress of Balochistan was the priority of the federal government which was evident from the unprecedented projects initiated in the province during last three years.

The prime minister said that the people of Balochistan would be the prime beneficiaries of major development initiatives including China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Gwadar Port.

Separately, the JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman also held a meeting with the prime minister and discussed issues pertaining to the current political and security situation of the Country.
