ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Defence Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan on Thursday said the Ummah must unite in order to resist foreign intervention in Islamic Countries, and thus to take charge of their own security.
Dastgir made these remarks while talking to the Iranian Minister for Defence Brigadier General Amir Hatami who called him telephonically today afternoon.
During the conversation, the two ministers discussed increasing unrest in the region and agreed to hold frequent consultation to assess the situation.
The Iranian minister termed the recent visit to Tehran by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa as a turning point in defence relations between Pakistan and Iran.
Both the defence ministers agreed that recognition of Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel by the United States had violated International understanding and destabilized the Middle East.
On December 6 last year, the US President Donald Trump while delivering a speech at the White House announced to recognize occupied Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel, and also shift the US Embassy there from Tel Aviv.
The US move triggered worldwide condemnation as not only the Extraordinary Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit held in Istanbul slammed the Trump’s decision and termed it violation of International Law but the United States also had to face a shameful defeat in the UN general assembly which voted against the US administration’s desire to see Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital.
