Government of PakistanCurriculum revamping need of hour: PM Khaqan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday said revamping of curriculum in the light of modern trends was the need of the hour.

While addressing the launching ceremony of new curriculum and text books in Islamabad, the prime minister said no Country could progress without education. He said imparting standard education was imperative to meet the emerging challenges.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the education was a provincial subject after the 18th amendment in the Constitution; therefore, the provincial governments had to lead the education sector. However, he added, the Federation was always ready to cooperate with provinces in that regard.

The prime minister said the training of teachers and curricular reforms had become imperative. He said it was essential to acquire quality education.

In addition, the prime minister said the private sector also had an important role in promotion of education. He said the federal government was determined to fulfill its responsibilities, adding the provinces also must play proactive role to promote education.

The prime minister said they planned to enroll 100 percent children in schools. He said they wanted to set an example for provinces.

Khaqan Abbasi further said when he joined politics, only a few graduates were in the Cabinet but now several PhDs were part of the Cabinet.
