ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Sartaj Aziz on Wednesday said China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was vital for the whole region, adding the project was not against any Country but for the peace and prosperity of all nations around the globe.

While addressing the session on CPEC during second day of Pakistan Capital Investment Summit and Expo 2018 held in Islamabad, Sartaj Aziz said CPEC was not just about roads and infrastructure but it was all about people to people connectivity for the brighter future of the world.

“CPEC will transform our country into an economic power that all the Pakistanis wanted,” he added.

While commenting on the economic growth, he said Pakistan remained stuck at merely three percent growth rate from 2006 onwards for almost seven or eight years but during last four years of current government, economic growth witnessed by all and government was eying to achieve six percent growth in current year.

Sartaj Aziz said the Chinese President Xi’s idea of One Belt One Road (OBOR) was just a concept to building roads, it connected policies, public and intellectuals.

The Deputy Chairman Planning Commission said Pakistan was proud that CPEC was flagship project of OBOR, and Pakistan’s CPEC was far ahead of other Countries in terms of progress regarding OBOR project.

Sartaj Aziz mentioned that exports had expanded and China had become the highest export partner for Pakistan.

Furthermore, he said in the next phase of CPEC implementation, railway infrastructure would be built at greater level. He assured that Pakistan would become a powerful economy by 2030.
