MULTAN, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Water Resources Syed Javed Ali Shah has said that he will make all-out efforts to evolve consensus among provinces on Kalabagh Dam.

Talking to the media during his maiden reception by hundreds of people after becoming his a federal minister in Multan on Saturday, he said that reservations of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh would be addressed.

The minister said that water scarcity would be challenging issue in future in the world, adding that Pakistan would also take up the issue of water with India at the United Nations and the International Court of Justice.

“Our neighbouring country had no right to stop Pakistani water,” he said adding that Pakistan would restore its rivers at all costs.

The federal minister said that many new dams were under construction in the country, adding that thousands of megawatts of electricity would be added to national grid after their completion.

Talking about Nawaz Sharif’s rally, the minister claimed that immense public participation in the rally showed that masses did not like the judgement of the court. He, however, added that the government had accepted and implemented the court verdict.

Javed Ali Shah lauded the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leadership for launching mega development projects in south Punjab. He cited the examples of Metro Bus Service and Motorways in south Punjab.

The minister said that Rs 20 million would be spent in each union council of his constituency for routine uplift works.

Earlier, the minister was accorded a warm welcome by hundreds of the PML-N workers. He left for Shujabad in a rally, jointed by the party workers.
