ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication was held under the Chairmanship of Senator Kauda Babar at Parliament House in Islamabad on Thursday.

The Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque, Additional Secretary (Incharge) Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Mohsin Mushtaq, Additional Secretary MoITT, Aisha Humera Moriani, and Member Telecom Omar Malik were also present in the meeting.

While addressing the meeting, Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque said that a Committee has been formed to probe the causes of cyber attacks and prevent them in the future.

The Committee will present its report in 14 days, he added.

The federal minister said that the Ministry of IT decided to give autonomy to National Information Technology Board (NITB).

About cyber attacks, the meeting was told by the Ministry of IT that an attempt was made to choke internet traffic through fake IPs.

The National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) foiled the cyber attacks successfully, and NTC server and websites’ data remained safe, the meeting was told.
