‘CNICs’ verification to improve national security’: PML-N leader

Government of Pakistan'CNICs' verification to improve national security': PML-N leader

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Sheikh Rohail Asghar has said that re-verification Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) would help detect and arrest illegal residents and enemies of the country.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said the incumbent government had re-established the state writ in those areas which were considered to be no go areas during the previous governments.

The terrorists, he said, had damaged the country immensely. A lot precious lives had lost in the fight against them. Most of the terrorists had entered Pakistan by using fake identity cards, he added.

He said the policy for the verification of fake identity cards by the Interior Ministry was a much needed step to ensure the blockage of fake identity cards.

PML-N leader Dr Nisar also said that Pakistan’s integrity and survival was supreme and a large number of Afghan refugees, who had been living in the country illegally, should be sent back to Afghanistan. Many of them were in criminal and anti-state activities, he added.

He said Pakistan could not afford more sacrifices and damages. All the Pakistanis, both civilians, armed forces and security agencies personnel, would have to work together for taking such anti-state elements to task.

PML-N leader Talal Chaudhary said, “We have been hosting Afghan refugees for the last many decades. We are not against Afghan refugees but they should live in refugee camps as their status is of refugees.”

He said the Interior Minister had made it clear that no one would be spared, who was found involved in the provision of illegal identity cards to the foreigners.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan previously took the decision to verify mobile phone SIMS which helped the curtailing of illegal SIMS, he added.

He said with this decision, the performance of NADRA will improve and the nation should also cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
