ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Caretaker Prime Minister Justice (retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk on Monday expressed satisfaction over the preparations made by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for upcoming general elections.
Chairing a briefing at Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad on the preparations and arrangements being made for smooth conduct of general elections 2018, Nasir-ul-Mulk said ensuring the conduct of free, fair and peaceful elections was the prime responsibility of the ECP.
The prime minister reiterated that the federal and the provincial governments were committed to provide every possible support to the Election Commission in the discharge of its constitutional obligations.
The briefing held was attended by Minister for Interior Muhammad Azam Khan, Chief Minister Punjab Hasan Askari Rizvi, Chief Minister Sindh Fazal-ur-Rehman, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Justice (retd) Dost Muhammad Khan, Chief Minister Balochistan Alauddin Mari, Secretary to Prime Minister Suhail Aamir, Secretary ECP Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad, Federal Secretaries of Finance, Interior and Defence divisions, Chief Secretaries and IGs of the four provinces, ICT administration and other senior government officials.
The Secretary Election Commission made a detailed presentation on the arrangements being made for conducting general elections 2018.
Babar Yaqoob also elaborated on the details of the Code of Conduct that had been worked out for contesting candidates, presiding officers and the polling staff, the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) deployed for election duties, media and election observers, both local and foreign, who would be monitoring the elections Country-wide.
