ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanvir Hussain hailed the positive-friendly budget 2016-17 and termed that it was a gift for the farmers of the country from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led federal government.
While talking to media, he expressed the confidence that the new measures announced in the budget would give necessary boost to agriculture to help it contribute its share to the gross domestic product (GDP).
The government tried its level best to facilitate the people of the country in various aspects, he said.
Minister urged that certain relief packages had also announced to facilitate the farming community in the country. None of the previous governments had presented such an exemplary budget.
The agriculture sector had suffered due to floods and depression in commodity prices around the world but the government had reduced the prices of urea and fertilizer in order to compensate the losses of the farmers, minister added.
Rana Tanvir further said that Agricultural sector is the backbone of our economy and we cannot ignore it, added that due to prudent economic policies of the present government, economy of the country has improved and it would strengthen further.
