ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Monday said if isolated, no Country could resolve the security, economic, environmental and other issues, adding vast cooperation was needed for development and prosperity.
In his address at the four-day 28th meeting of Regional Planning Council (RPC) of Economic Cooperation Organization (SCO) which began in Islamabad today, the minister urged for wide-range cooperation among the ECO member states for economic development and prosperity.
Ahsan Iqbal, who is also the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, said rapid changes had been occurring in today’s world. He said global partnership was required in the Communication and Infrastructure sector. He said in today’s correlated world we needed to expand relations and avoid confrontation.
The minister further said the world was facing challenges of terrorism and extremism, and law & order was inevitable for development.
The interior minister said we would have to focus on human resource development for economic development. Likewise he added we would have to ensure conservation of natural resources for our succeeding generations.
Talking about increased tension in the Middle East, Ahsan Iqbal said due to the recognition of Jerusalem as Capital of Israel by the United States, the tension had intensified in the region. He stressed the need for abiding by the International laws, and avoiding such initiatives which could undermine peace efforts.
On the sidelines of the four-day 28th meeting of ECO Regional Planning Council, the ECO Special Conference on Afghanistan is also planned to be held in the Federal Capital.
The “ECO Day 2017” will also be celebrated on December 14 on the sidelines of the ECO Summit.
