ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Education and Professional Training Muhammad Baligh Ur Rahman on Wednesday underlined the importance of languages, and said that no one can deny the importance of languages.

“Learning more languages could enhance one’s critical and analytical thinking” the minister emphasized while addressing the Degree Awarding Ceremony held at National University of Modern Languages (NUML) in Islamabad.

As many as 129 students of different categories including three gold medalists and four PhD’s were awarded degrees in a ceremony which also attended by the Rector NUML Major General (retd) Zia Uddin Najam, the Director General Brigadier Muhammad Ibrahim, faculty members, parents and a large number of students.

The minister said that modern knowledge and researches in the World has proved that the trend to learn new languages play vital role in the development of any Country.

Baligh Ur Rehman said that education sector is improving in the Country with the efforts of incumbent government.

Lauding the role of NUML in modern education and languages programmes, the minister said that the university is prevailing in the Country by launching its campuses. He said that all though, the education is a devolve subject but the federal government in consultation with the provinces is making efforts for the development of sector.

The education minister urged the NUML students to provide their services for this languages programme to be initiated at regional level. He stressed the need of characterization of youth besides education and asked the faculty to play their role in this regard.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
