ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman on Thursday emphasized the need of promotion of regional languages for the national integrity.
While addressing as chief guest the closing ceremony of National Conference on Persian Language-Challenges and future prospects at the auditorium of Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Islamabad, the minister said that the importance of languages can never be denied as languages are the reflection of culture and civilization.
The two-day Conference was jointly organized by Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran, HEC and National University of Modern Languages (NUML).
Baligh Ur Rehman congratulated Embassy of Iran, HEC and NUML for holding the Conference on Persian Language. He said that this Conference will prove a milestone in the promotion of Persian language.
The minister noted the Persian language has deep connection with our region especially Pakistan as most of our intellectuals work is in Persian language. He said most part of the poetry of Allama Muhammad Iqbal is in Persian language, adding that we will have to learn Persian Language if we want to know about our history and civilization.
Baligh also said that Pakistan has strong relations with Iran and Pakistani people have great affection for the people of Iran.
At the end, the federal minister distributed Saadi and Iqbal awards.
