BEIJING, China: The Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has appreciated the active support of Uzbekistan for Pakistan’s membership of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) which was finalized during the SCO Astana Summit in Uzbekistan.
Khawaja Asif expressed gratitude to the Uzbek Foreign Minister Kamilov Abdul Aziz Khafizovich when they held a bilateral meeting in Beijing on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting of the SCO.
The two foreign minister spoke highly of the historical relations between the two Countries and their deep cultural linkages.
They also discussed various issues of mutual interest and agreed to further strengthen Pakistan-Uzbekistan bilateral, political, economic and people-to-people relations.
Khawaja Asif was in China to attend the meeting of the Council of SCO Foreign Minister.
It was the first time that the Foreign Minister of Pakistan participated in the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting after membership of Pakistan in the SCO.
