ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As part of news diplomatic engagements worldwide, the Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif departed for Turkey on Tuesday, aiming at to further bolster Pakistan’s relations with regional Countries and convey Islamabad’s stance over terrorism with particular emphasize on Afghanistan.

Asif’s day-long visit to Turkey will encompass his meeting with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, the Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakaria said in Islamabad.

The foreign minister will also hold bilateral meeting with his Turkish Counterparts Mevlut Cavusoglu.

The Foreign Office Spokesman said that they will review bilateral relations and regional issues including situation in Afghanistan, grave human rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir, atrocities against Rohingya Muslims and other issues of common concern will be discussed.

Earlier on Monday, Khawaja Asif toured Tehran for bilateral talks with the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and the Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Javad Zarif.

Asif re-assured Pakistan’s commitment to strengthen its ties with regional Countries including Iran, and apprised the Iranian leadership of its endeavours for regional peace and prosperity.

The foreign office emphasized that political dialogue remained the only viable solution to Afghan issue while over a decade-old war had not yielded any positive results at all.

The Iranian leadership lauded Pakistan’s role in war on terror, and endorsed Pakistan’s approach towards the Afghan issue.

The Iranian leadership also voiced concerns over atrocities, Kashmiris and Rohingya Muslim in Myanmar are suffering.
